Linkin Park's Chester Bennington has apparently taken his own life.
Another possibly tortured soul gone before he needed to. My better half is beside herself as this band have recorded some of her favourite music. They played the O2 recently (Bennington said he was an Ipswich Town supporter and we hoped they'd play Portman Road) but we couldn't go...

Not music but someone who had a part in my childhood - Deborah Watling, who played Victoria Waterfield in my then favourite TV show (Doctor Who in case someone's interested) has gone
Such a shame most of her episodes in this show only exist in audio now. If there ever was a cache of 'missing' episodes recovered but not yet handed over to the BBC, then it's a tragedy, but this ain't the forum to vent my anger

I can't believe that Glen Campbell has not had a mention here. I am not his biggest fan but i do love some of his tunes.
He was my dads favorite and as my dad passed away four years ago, Glen's passing has quite upset me. I remember driving one of my dads tractors back in the 90's. It only had a cassette deck and the only one in there was Glen Campbell's greatest hits. I played it quite a few times from what i remember. Got to quite like it.
RIP Glen

Walter Becker - as noted elsewhere - here's the Grauniad obit.

(worth reading for Becker's spoof technical notes for Spinal Tap.

I missed this.
On 5 september Holger Czukay passed away at the age of 79. Founder member of CAN. An amazing musical mind and pioneer.
My accidental discovery of his album 'Movies' as a teenager was a formative experience.
Holger Czukay - Persian Love
On one hand he could create sound collages of serene beauty ...
Holger Czukay - Cool In The Pool
... but he had a wicked sense of humour too !!!

Shocked and saddened. Taken away too soon.
