Possible DIY Project MS 700s

So, my MS700s. DQ has suggested that I give them the full treatment: armour plating 'n'all.

As a minimum I probably need to put new foils in those Decca Kellys. One is definitely ropey. The speaker connections are little bolts (no banana plugs here!)

I've never taken a speaker apart. It looks fairly straightforward - speakers are screwed (the 12" and the 4") or bolted (tweeters) in to a front panel, the panel is screwed into the main cabinet. But, if I take it apart, what then? Steel plate lining, no base crossover capacitor on the tweeter, hardwire? And the cabinet is tatty - that could do with a bit of a makeover, maybe get some proper lacquer and get high on formaldehyde?

It is the smell of soldering iron sticking to flesh that is most worrying (and painful).

Though you quickly learn which end to pick it up

PS Terry, no quick reply box on this room.

Every other room has a quick reply box, with this one you have to click on a "post a reply" link which then brings up a box. This is on all other threads as well, it is just the quick reply that is missing. Doesn't matter I just thought it was odd.
