Just been on a dalliance with this bit of software. Prettier than Volumio, maybe; does it sound different - difficult to tell because of the way it defaults the sound setup - but I don't think so. Yes, it recognised all the USB ports on the Pi (but why???). No remote control.
Reverting to Volumio.

Re: Moode Player
I am running both. Volumio with a Pi 2B, Hegel DAC and NVA rig, what I like about Volumio is the control over 'colouring' that the different kernel settings give you. On this system I feel that Volumio is ever-so slightly more musical.
My office rig with a Pi B+ & MF M1DAC doesn't reveal any audible differences. So here I use MoOde. It looks prettier with the album sleeve displayed, has an abundance of web-radio stations and works very fast.
Still awaiting the release of Volumio 2.

+2
I am in a very similar situation to Fretless volumio via Pi 2B Rega Dac Nva rig main system - 2nd rig in pc room/work room Pi B+ into whatever incarnation i may be using playing/testing at the time it currently is amptastic digi amp in to a chinese dac allison cd7 speakers very pleasant little lash up.
Volumio does seem a little more refined and better for me than moode which is on the PiB+ right now i use it more for the radio presets mainly
Chatter on the interwebs seems to think volumio 2 will be out before the new year i hope so i am looking forward to it although i think i have enough to keep me busy right now

Re: Moode Player
No, I play tracks (often FLACs) via USB into one of the little thingies the Doc uses and from there into my DAC - lovely! In fact, some of the best sounds at the Doc's place has been via YouTube streaming the same way. I doubt a cheapo Pi solution and a bit of software could sound much if any better. WAV's vs. FLACs on my setup are pretty well inaudible for me. I don't know why, but I still get the feeling and inflections in the music with no difficulty - and I do get to hear the Doc's fancy vintage DAC every time I visit.
