His 'Wealth of Nations' is a cracking good read, too._D_S_J_R_ wrote:I first was re-awakened to the SL1200's continued existence by Ken Kessler in a late 80's FHN article. Adam Smith's alright and I have a lot of respect for him. I've bought stuff from him and we've exchanged good emails occasionally...

How does one draw a line between a truth and a truism, given that a truism must, by definition, be true?Daniel Quinn wrote:Okay big boy name 3. Please make sure they are not trite or truisms._D_S_J_R_ wrote:Daniel Quinn wrote:there is no truth in hifi only opinion

The original LP12 had a few design issues.
The Techie 1200 series TT's were quite popular.
Marcos 1210 is a £30000 TT killer....

1, All speakers are crap - but some are less crappy than others.Daniel Quinn wrote:Okay big boy name 3. Please make sure they are not trite or truisms._D_S_J_R_ wrote:Daniel Quinn wrote:there is no truth in hifi only opinion
2. Digital colours the sound less than analogue! You may not like the end result but it's true.
3. The general public out there couldn't give a toss about 'High Fidelity Sound' now as most use phones/personal music players and cheap headphones and all this 'legacy' stuff we use is just piles of ugly looking boxes!
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...
