Grado PS500e

Unread post by southall-1998 »

These to some people, are a scaled down version of the PS1000e. Which they probably are! Do all Grado headphones use the same drivers?

Has anyone here heard the PS500e?

The further you go up the range there are increases in the maximum attainable frequency and the drivers come in more closely matched pairs. Also the wiring changes in composition.

Grado are intensively secretive about their drivers and there is much speculation on Head-Fi about this subject. But it would be safe to assume that there are several different drivers used in the range.

Sorry to sound a tad grumpy. But most of the people on Head-Fi really irritate me!

From a logistical point of view ,how could grado use the same drivers for each model ,they would all sound the same .

Not necessarily, the shape of the enclosure can colour the sound and any electronic components will also have an effect, not that headsets usually contain any electronics.

I have googled , very little given away by grado , however each model would appear to have differing frequency responses and measurements. They must therefore be different .

I got a pair of RS1's with a blown driver, and replaced it with one from an old pair of SR80's.The drivers look the same and the phones sound bloody good.It must be the magic mahogany that makes the difference... :confusion-confused:
