Even if you only like bono
that's no reason to listen in mono
stereo is a joy
Much much more than a gimmick or a toy
The illusion of reality can only be achieved
with one driver if you have a bag of weed .

Re: Hello!
There is something very strange going on here ...
2 channel stereo output going into a single box.
A strange amp that I cannot find mentioned anywhere.
Cassettes !! (Okay it IS a Nakamichi)

Re: Hello!
not really , the amp as a 2020 chip in it , so google tells me it will likely be home made t-amp . the cd source is stereo .
my guess is rca phon0 x2 to rca phono x1 cable .

Re: Hello!
The amplifier is made by Russ Andrew. R.A.V.E stands for Russ Andrews Value Engineering.
As for cassettes, don't knock them. When i first heard my cassettes through my then S.E.T Valve amp i was taken aback by how good
they sounded. Listening to music through a amplifier that has no crossover distortion or feedback applied is a remarkable experience.
There is a direct hear through quality to the sound. Space, depth, resolution, low level information, just you and the music. Unfortunately
most people will never hear how good recorded music can sound. I'm talking about analogue here not CD. A typical
transistor amp masks so much information.
The Nakamichi has a fraction wider bandwith than CD!
It's okay to be different and not part of the herd!

Re: Hello!
More forum stimulated you are talking about two parameters, and there are many parameters and even things pretend gurus like Russ Andrews know feck all about nor probably have even heard about that determine an amplifier. And a couple of those are negated by the two you seem to think are all important.beyourself wrote: Listening to music through a amplifier that has no crossover distortion or feedback applied is a remarkable experience.
Total lack of understanding, you are falling for the marketing bullshit

Re: Hello!
Hello Richard, i was waiting for this reply.
Firstly i speak only from my experience, if something sounds good to me then it is good, that's all that matters, all the marketing in the world means nothing if you don't like the sound. I listen to my inner guidance and my inner guidance has drawn me to NVA, which is why i'm here.
In my post i said "typical", meaning the average mass market offerings, not every amplifier in existence.
All the transistor amplifiers i have owned and listened to have had a flat, grey, mechanical, tight, edgy, grainy, un-musical sound. Why is that? My S.E.T and the Audio Innovations series 500 before that did not. Were those transistor amps just poorly designed?
I do not read Hi-fi magazines and i do not frequent forums, apart from this one...i've been on this audio journey for far too long for all that nonsense.
All i'm interested in is good sound. I'm a music lover you are the designer.

Re: Hello!
Perhaps you should get more experience before you pronounce bullshit on our forum. You have made a few of us suspicious, but we allow people to stay incognito. So from a vacuum of information of no forum no magazines, you spout forum / magazine bullshit. NOTE I am not saying you are wrong, the two parameter you quoted can IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHERS make for musical enjoyment. But they are PART of the story, and other parts of the story IMO are more important, but that is just my opinion. As always the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Yes with pleasure enjoy what ever you want, you are obviously not a designer, or understand circuits, yet you tell us why they are better, just by repeating the bullshit, yet you say you never read it or heard it, so you invented it?

You never said a truer word DQ,When i was a lad we stole the bottom speaker out of the rocking berries vox pa columns and put them in a cardboard box at home. With the aformentioned bag of weed the Band music from the big pink sounded amazing....Daniel Quinn wrote:The illusion of reality can only be achieved
