Simon Kirke - yes he certainly has feeling.

Playing for the song not yourself is a skill many musicians never learn. Listening to the rest of the band is probably the most important thing. In my early playing years a lot of drummers were judged by how many fills they could get in and how complicated they were. Complete nonesense of course. Some bands just would not have been the same with a different drummer (The Who, Zeppelin) but that is certainly not universal.

Maybe not Ringo, but his son has been doing sterling work with The Who.

I know nothing of drumming, so my recommendations (for what they're worth) are;
Clyde Stubblefield, the original funky drummer (and sadly recently deceased. SLINGER)
Reni from the stone roses.
Stephen Perkins - Janes Addiction.
Joe Dilworth - Th' Faith Healers/Stereolab.
I like drummers that can instil a playful funkiness
Technic SL-P1200ASC>>SSP>>P50sa>>SSP>>A80>>LS6>>Royd Prior>>> and on the whole very pleased about it.

Phil Collins said Ringo was a great drummer. when he auditioned for genesis he was sat by the pool listening to the competition they were all trying to be Keith moon or Jon Bonham .He listened to trespass and drummed the songs. great drummers don't only provide rhythm, they become integral to the music.
