Noting David's request to each only bring 1 or 2 items, due to time limits, I am proposing to bring Cube 1s and BMU.

I will bring cables and my work room music source (not nva). Though I am nursing yet another bug at the moment, hopefully gone by Sunday.

Sorry, I didn't take any. Tea was good, biscuits aplenty and lots of interesting sounds (and I missed most of it).

A few notes:

Not a day for direct comparisons - we didn't hear the same tracks with each speaker.

We started off with Nick's solid state monoblocks feeding the Maxonics. Played around 6 tracks through these. I couldn't get on with them during this session, but at the end of the day Nick put his 300b amp into them and they really started to sing. Definitely voiced for valves. Serious build quality.

Lindsayt's EV Sentry's. Lindsay seems to have the ability to pick up fascinating and serious items for beer money. I thought they had a very nice tone and openness with the female vocal tracks.

Cube 1s (sat directly on top of the EVs - see photos). A big space to fill but no mistaking the ease, natural presentation and purity that I hear from them at home. As usual, sounded a lot bigger than they look. Would be interesting to hear Terry's Cubix Pros in the MCRU room.

Red homemades. Interesting, innovative design with high quality parts. I was nearfield to start with and couldn't find the right spot. Once I went to the back of the room they produced a very clean, dynamic and solid sound. The Leonard Cohen vocal had just the right balance of tension and depth and they stopped and started especially well. Until Nick put the 300b into the Maxonics, these filled the room best. Rather pretty, too.

Steve The Shadow's semi omnis. Again, I'm very much in favour of the natural presentation and unforced transparency. Steve posted at Audio Talk that he has made further improvements to them based on feedback on the day.

Open baffle 'full range' driver test. Missing a couple of octaves until hooked up to the bass drivers of the 'red homemades'.

Lastly, a pint of Timothy Taylor 'Boltmaker'. A 'proper beer'...
