The best thing to do with a LP12 is stick it on top of a bonfire.
Ha Ha! Textbook Doc answer.
If yours is a standard one, to realise the most cash strip it down and sell the bits.
I happen to like the LP12 thing, though mine is far less springy than the springy Linn things. Throw them away as they are shite, fit a decent Rega R200 or similar Acos GST arm and you'll be good to go.
I would guess the deck and the arm are worth £500 each, although jayman67 would be the best person to ask re value of the Alphason. Is the cartridge worth £100, I don't know. Be interested to see what DQ and Zebbo have to say about the deck since they know more than me.
If i sold my Naim aro alone it would fund the purchase of this with change left over. I cant quite believe what they go for these days since naim stopped making them.
I know the seller very well and it is a mint example.
While I am a PT fan I have never actually heard a PT1. I started off with an LPT then Export GTI and then the Anniversary. If you use an LP12 at the moment I'm sure the PT would be an absolute breath of fresh air. As stated before, the Alphason is supposed to be a very synergistic (?) pairing.
Audio Grail "Sable" Garrard 401 with Cumbrian Green Slate plinth / Audiomods 6 / Benz Micro Gullwing SLR, Phono 2, NVA INT400sa. (Oh and a Copland CDA823 CD Player, for when I fancy a bit of the devil's spawn!)
Astonishing !!!! my £50 Pioneer PL12AC turntable is tracking an Ortofon SPU Gold with no problem and sounds delightful. I tell you for certain a PL12D arm and especially a PL112D arm couldn't do that. This is a damn good arm.
BTW this is testing Marks ( beerdoughboy63 ) Phono2.
