Electrical Question

So, sat with Mrs Hincapie late last night (or early this morning depending upon your perspective) having a chat about the A-ha concert she had just returned from. Main system switched on but no music playing. We then heard a series of 'pops' from the speakers lasting at least 10 mins. Mrs H then explains it's been happening for weeks...

I suspect something on the mains, either internally or externally. Thoughts?

If that is what it is, would a BMU prevent it?

Some sort of digital interference?

Do you have a TV box in the same room? I had some flutters and clicks that turned out be my new Sky box.

No, only other electrical stuff in that room is my headphone station and that's all fine.

Mains problem - DC on the line - would usually cause buzzing transformers.

Normally it is the "where are you" mobile phone signal. It is weird sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, some networks it doesn't, with some NVA gear it doesn't. Keep phones away from the hi-fi.

It isn't mobile related. That's not the sort of noise I am talking about.

I'll see if I can record it.

Are all connectors fully home, especially speaker cables? I've had this before but caused more of a crackle than a pop so probably a long shot.....

I know and it isn't that. I'll record and upload.
