Almost fully cased up now:
Holes punched in top surface of case will be backed with aluminium mesh, sprayed black.
Still to decide on a front panel. Whatever panel I decide upon, will be attached to the Sony front panel we see in the picture.
It’ll be blank with the LED poking through a 4mm hole.
I’m pleased with the overall effect and though it took a lot of drilling, cutting, filing and bleeding; repurposing the old CD player case was worth the hassle and it’s good to recycle.

It's a pleasure Steve. A very interesting thread, (along with Karatestu's) on DIY'ing NVA SS amps.
I think they'll flame polish each edge for you too for a small additional fee.
Alfi.

Re: Another DIY SS Amplifier with NVA Boards
Yes, a great thread which begs the question, Paul, would you be willing to sell amp modules for those inclined towards DIY?
I appreciate this would be a return to a place Richard had moved on from, but with your new company model, could it be worth marketing? I’d certainly buy a pair of modules if you were willing and I know others likely to do the same.

We see NVA as a whole package, based on a defined ethos...and our livelihood depends on it.TroutFisher wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 9:34 pm Yes, a great thread which begs the question, Paul, would you be willing to sell amp modules for those inclined towards DIY?

We like the DIY spirit, and we enjoy reading these threads, but it's not a market we are going to supply.

Re: Another DIY SS Amplifier with NVA Boards
Thought I’d put the electronic finishing touches to the amp yesterday and fitted 1uF film cap bypasses to all the power supply caps, like everyone says you should. I sat back, cued up a record and prepared to be enveloped on sonic bliss. Instead I got sandpaper and grit for treble and the whole tone of the thing was completely fooked up. Took them out and returned to liquidity and music.
I’ve never had much sonic success with bypassing PSU electrolytics; the sound was always degraded, despite what everybody else said. The output caps on the OTL were a different story; the improvements there were not subtle.
