music system for dementia

My mother has vascular dementia, lost interest in TV (too confusing), but responds very well to tunes/songs from her youth. I would like to get her a music player (built in speaker? or bluetooth speaker?) that is very simple to use.

She wouldn't be able to use a computer/phone (initial thought was a 'phone with bluetooth) but I would like something that I could download 40's/50's/60's tunes on to and could be set up to play or switch off at the touch of a large button. Hi Fi quality not a consideration.

Any ideas gratefully received. Guy.

Thanks for suggestions, I have asked same question on PFM and done a bit of research myself.

I think an internet radio to connect to this: http://www.angelradioplayer.co.uk

And a CD player for me to act as "DJ" when I visit should just about cover it for the moment.

Guy.

Hi, I know there is ‘Hive’ that allows you to remotely control heating, lights etc- based on this and phone app you could adapt this for your needs, strangely Home security companies have many gadgets to assist
Good luck 😉

Guy, been there and have the T shirt twice. Just google ‘Music players for dementia’ and you’ll get loads of specifically designed options. It is well recognised that dementia sufferers enjoy and respond well to music.
