Re: Bloody weather
Personally I prefer wild growth and let nature take its course.
However, commercial pressures mean that the garden has to be kept neater and tidier than I would like.
Which reminds me, I have to mow the lawn before it gets too hot.

Re: Bloody weather
I leave lawn clippings on the lawn and use a besom to scatter them and they can fall down in to the sward and eventually complete the organic matter cycle. Lawns that have had the clippings removed continually for years or decades even, eventually run in to problems and need increasingly high doses of nitrogen (and other intervention ) to look any good.
I sow and encourage clover in my lawn as it is a nitrogen fixer in the soil as all legumes are. That is why grass looks greener and healthier amongst a patch of clover.
This is turning into a gardening thread Maybe we need one ?

Re: Bloody weather
Have not been one for leaving lawn clippings on the lawn but might not have any choice as the garden waste bin is full after cutting down some bushes. The collection is less than once a month now. The grass does not seem to grow much without rain though. Our apple trees have been a casualty with the leaves covered in blight. Thought it was because of the very wet winter but the garden centre said it is most likely the spring drought. Have been watering and spreading manure we got hold of.
To me the good weather has been a god send during the restrictions. Spending a lot of time in the garden with headphones and a few beers. I still managed to get caught by a down pour and flash flood when out for a walk earlier in the month.

Re: Bloody weather
Got caught in a shower today. Absolutely piss wet through now. I am well & truly sick of the weather. Through lock down it was glorious but far too dry for good crop establishment. Now it doesn't know when to stop raining. From one extreme to the other makes me think of global warming as a possible explanation.
Need a good drink now
