Re: Your favourite war film
I have The World At War on DVD box set. How many of those can you manage to watch in a row ? I think i managed six quite a number of years ago.

Glory is a hell of a film too. The judges may dismiss this but I'm going to give an honorary mention for El Cid. The last scene especially made such an impression on me the first time I saw it as a youngster - and then every Easter bank holiday thereafter!

Good grief, I'd forgotten El Cid. I remember my dad taking me to the pictures to see that. I'd have been about seven or 8 years old, so I'm guessing I was his "excuse" to see it.

I first saw it on TV probably around the same age. And realised I was looking at Sophia Loren in a slightly different way to how I did my Mummy and my Sister.

The Pacific is an eye opener. The book it is based on, With the old breed by Eugene Sledge is even more so.
