NVA 2022

NVA 2022

NVA marks it's 40th anniversary in 2022. After Tomasz and I took on NVA in September 2019, just 6 months later, the world pandemic came along. Add Brexit to that and I think it's fair to say that it hasn't been the simplest of times. In some ways, we've been lucky (low overheads and the ability to serve EU customers from Poland), and in some ways it's been a significant challenge (not least that Tomasz was unable to travel to the UK for several months running in 2020). Still, we hope that onlookers can see that we are serious about keeping NVA alive and kicking for several more decades, yet. Many will have thought that NVA was going to wither away, following Richard's passing – but, even after the 21 months we've just had, the reality is the opposite.

We've learnt to expect the unexpected, but we plan to introduce a new integrated amplifier and Cube speaker in the first 4 months of 2022. These will be an evolution of the NVA range, true to the principles of simplicity, quality, value and 'music first'. The integrated amplifier will come in a wide case, similar in dimensions to the AP70 (you'll find photos of the AP70 online, if your memory doesn't go back that far). We are testing a satin matt black finish acrylic that doesn't retain finger prints. The wider case will allow us to fit larger transformers. The new Cube speaker will be the same dimensions as the Cube 1. We are just about to test a version built in birch-ply and we have identified a new bass driver that works superbly well in a sealed box with capacitor and padding resistor, only, and does not require doping by hand. Pricing will be on our usual model of 3 to 5 times parts cost (compared to 7 to 10 times parts costs for brands sold through dealers), however it's too soon to reliably quote numbers for the new integrated and new Cube, given the currently volatile nature of component costs, and pending final decisions on specification.

Tomasz has also spent a lot of time on procuring new amplifier boards. In some cases we have upgraded components through choice and in some cases we needed to find alternatives for parts that had become obsolete. The new amplifier boards are made in the UK. The new integrated amplifier will be the first to have the new boards fitted as standard.

From time to time, we have released limited edition 'forum specials' where we have identified the opportunity to give our most loyal supporters an exceptional value offer – firstly the 'special' A20 stereo power amplifier (which later became the S80) and then the 300va single transformer monoblocks. Given the ongoing activity with the new integrated amplifier and Cube speakers, we don't envisage another forum limited edition in 2022, but we will have a forum members only trade-in offer against the M600 monoblocks (look out for a separate post).

Happy New Year from Tomasz and myself. We hope you enjoy your music in 2022!

I agree with Latteman, satin black would look excellent in my opinion. I wish NVA continued success in 2022, and hope a wider audience will have the chance to hear the brand, especially the new Cubes, I'm sure they would surprise many who are after upgrading to speakers in this price bracket, because when I see what brands are recommended on forums it makes me want to pull my hair out.

Someone on WAM who is local has expressed interest in coming round to hear my Cubes when things are safer. He has Spendors.

Saw the thread title and thought “Oh gawd, here we go. Another NVA amplifier renaming”…
But no.
Seriously, happy anniversary NVA. And good work Paul and Tomasz. Imho, the way you are evolving the products and brand in sympathy with NVA traditions and history is impressive.

Thanks, Doc F

Our naming process is no surprise, hopefully, lol...

S = Stereo (e.g. S300)
M = Mono (e.g. M600)
(And, when we release the new integrated, I = Integrated)

The number that follows is the total VA rating of the transformers fitted.

All the amplifiers use the same amplifier boards, the differences are in the power supplies, so we thought that the above was the simplest and most truthful way of representing the hierarchy within the range.

Hey, a big Spendor is going to come and spend a little time with you?
