This is a bit of fun , god knows i need some after spending most of the last few days in bed or wanting to go to bed.

Why Richer Sounds ? Cos they are country wide, the catalogue is readily available , they stock some promising looking stuff and I like the ethos of the company.

I'm scuttling off now to finalise what mine would be. Choose anything on the RS website and say why - if you can be arsed.

There is no doubt that in real terms the cost of putting together a decent sounding separates system with a laptop as source is far less than in days gone by. Looking at the Richer Sounds website the bulk of the expenditure would need to be on the amplifier, but the overall cost could be £500.

I would go for:
Audioquest Dragonfly Black DAC £79
Cambridge Audio AXA 25 integrated amplifier £249
Wharfdale Diamond 9.0 speakers £79
QED speaker cable and
Audioquest interconnector cable making up the £500

My fantasy three-box system. It would have been two-box, but I went for monoblocks instead of a single-box power amp.

Cambridge Audio EDGE NQ
Network Music Player/Streamer/Pre-Amp

2x Cambridge Audio EDGE M
Mono Power Amplifier

Monitor Audio Platinum PL300 II (Ebony)
Speakers - Pair

2x Monitor Audio Gold W12 (Piano Ebony)
Subwoofer

Sum Total = £26,914.00 and I haven't chosen any cables.

Well, you did say it was fantasy.

TBH I don't even know if the subs would serve a useful purpose, but I'd want to hear the system set up with, and without them before making a final decision. They're a "just in case/just because" addition.
Sadly, MA has discontinued their Platinum PLW215 II sub, which would have been my "actual" choice.

I can't believe how quickly I chose the components. :o

£65 CYP AU-D3-192 DAC. If forced to use any of the speakers from Richer Sounds, there's no point in getting fussy over the digital source. So might as well buy the cheapest.
£149 Tibo TI435AMP. Ditto for the amplification. And this comes with a remote control, so I wouldn't even have to get out of my chair to turn the damned system off.
£149 Tibo Harmony 8 speakers. All Richer Sounds speakers are shit. Wall to wall slimline ported low efficiency speakers. :teasing-blah:
Wharefedale Diamond 9.0's wouldn't get in because the cheapest stand on which they would fit costs £87.

So that would be £363 spunked up the wall in Richer Sounds. Which is not too bad when you look at how much money you can waste there. :teasing-smokingcrack:

I have to agree, nothing in their catalog looks interesting.

You guys really haven't grasped the concept of fantasizing, have you?

It's like you're being asked to imagine your fantasy woman, and all you can do is think about one of Del Boy's blow-up sex dolls.

The gear I might fantasise about isn’t available from Richer Sounds, no reel to reel tape recorders, no digital mixers or exotic microphones, no LED walls, just boringly normal Hi-Fi.

It's difficult to fantasize with any sort of lust when the only thing on offer is yetis. :orcs-buttshake:

Richer Sounds is not the Hugh Heffner mansion of hi-fi.

Exactly.

Just trying to inject a bit of fun and maybe some discussion. You could have gone along with it like CN did or not bothered af all

Somebody please remind me why I even bother :obscene-hanged:
