This is a very different device to the iFi but yes it is very small . What it does is clear to me and has been explained to me . But that does not even come close to what it does to the music and how much more human and real it makes it sound .

Which charity shop was that? And how long ago? :handgestures-fingerscrossed: :twocents-mytwocents:

This is the unit and if you are well versed in these things then have a root around . If you want a little help to set it up (I admit that I did ) there is a thread on Audio Addicts forum called tick tock tick tock tick tock which explains and another showing the set up for a Mutec which is what I use it with .
Leo Bodnar is a God in the amateur radio world. He makes components that tap received radio spectrum and send it to an SDR so operators can see band activity as a waterfall display. Amazing.

This got me wondering and I have ordered an Ifi SPDIF Ipurifier2.

Will be checking it out with various devices / installations when it arrives. Mainly curious about the effect it could have with the Kiss DVD player upstairs.

Have had the I purifier for three years and I was impressed by the difference it made.

Since installing the clock and really enjoying what it does for music i have gone even deeper down the rabbit hole with that white tail twitching just in front all the time . The same person that gave me the link to the Leo Bodnar Clock then went on to explain that the clock is a 50 ohm output while most music equipment like the Mutec I connect it to is 75 ohm input . This then causes an impedance mismatch which for 10 Hz signal could be audible . Luckily there was a fairly simple fix . Within the Mutec switching an internal link bypasses the 75 ohm circuit . You then need a fully specified and correct 50 ohm bnc to bnc cable , you also need a 50 ohm through terminator . over a few days got all this together then was brave and changed the internal link . Connected everything up and it still worked so happy still sounded great but at that stage was not hearing any improvement . After about an hours use I started to notice little areas that just sounded more natural and real and made me think I never noticed how perfect that guitar solo fitted that tune or how important that upright bass line is to this song . I have to say the difference is subtle but over time I am fully convinced that doing the impedance fix is a good thing . I would still maintain that it is not essential and the same applies for my use of an LPSU to power the clock but they all to my ears help . If you are gifted in the technical area then you can buy an OXCO module clock and put it in a box with a power supply and this has a similar uplift and costs well under £100 . If on the other hand you are clueless like me then go for the Leo Bodnor clock it works .

Update... Now listening via an Audiolab 7000A. Built in DAC, no need to worry about RCA vs. balanced, whether or not I should spend more on interconnects or not, only 1 on/off switch! KISS

Looks like you got a result  Simplicity in lots of things is healthy for the mind. Enjoy the music.

Simplicity is a goal to aim for. I tend to switch between rabid-gear-freak and manic-music-fanatic mode. Sometimes I'm focussed on the equipment, tweaking and tuning the installation to get it 'just right'. Other times I want to be transported by the music and enjoy the ride.

At the moment the systems (all of them) are stable, I'm happy with the SQ everywhere and am into an ongoing (re)discovery of bands/artists/albums that I overlooked / missed out on through the years. Simply want to hear the music and forget the audio systems.

Same here. There has been no change to my main system for over a year. Then it was more a case of getting the best of what I have with the purchase of oak speaker stands and Iso Pucks. In the years prior to 2022 there was a lot of tinkering about with source components. No regrets about the changes and additions. They got me to where I want to be and it has been all about the music ever since.
