Re: Pinky's Funky Rambling's....!!!

The kitchen is symbolic. It is the last room with decor left from a previous girlfriend. The pink wasn't meant to be pink. It was meant to pick out the colour of the stone in a mediteranean painting we have in the kitchen. The mediteranean stone is pink. The paint on our walls is called "Roman ...

Re: Pinky's Funky Rambling's....!!!

They are a big loudspeaker - does your mrs realise? Going to be a very different presentation from your PT Ventricles, that's for sure. We've crossed in the post. The Fidelio is quite twee - the height and depth of the Ventrical, and about the width of the Kef R900's we had in the living roo...

Re: Pinky's Funky Rambling's....!!!

There's a lot of comments if you google about people preferring other drivers. But one of the big issues is Lowther drivers have a 500 hour run in period (2 months according to Lowther - I'm gonna have to leave them on with the telly to get that sort of run-in) A lot of serious speaker manufacturers...

Re: Pinky's Funky Rambling's....!!!

It says supercast 8" on the blurb. I shall probably try some pukka Lowthers just for the nostalgic itch. Lowthers take a long time to run in, and they have a range of different drivers. I'll give them a listen with the Audio Nirvana's for a while, until the piggy bank has refilled. Be interesti...

Re: Pinky's Funky Rambling's....!!!

This may be a much hornier weekend than I bargained for. Just bought a pair of lowther fidelio cabinets with audio nirvana drivers (at about £1500 less than Gus's estimate for the cost of building the cabinets). Will get proper lowther drivers when some of my bloody clients pay me. But also bidding ...

Re: Pinky's Funky Rambling's....!!!

Well they are a classic hi-fi compromise, they do some things astonishingly well at the expense of other things they do astonishingly badly. Definitely not speaker for all people. Very probably. I'm not sure they are going to be my cup of tea either. And as Sue points out, I keep trying other speak...

Re: Pinky's Funky Rambling's....!!!

Which bit of "i fancy trying a pair of lowthers" did I not make clear? Celestial 66 may be lovely, but they are not suitable for ripping out the drivers and putting them in fidelio cabinets. I take it nobody here likes having the horn :(

Re: Pinky's Funky Rambling's....!!!

Long overdue for a ramble. The good news is I may have been given a small permit to play with some speakers. But boy I earned it. We are hoping to move - theres planning bureacracy and poverty to overcome, but we'd like to move to France and there is a credible chance we might in the next 12 months....

Re: The Lawnmower thread

For a not much more than 150 grand you can get a detached house on a few acres in France. True, you can, but it all depends on where you live. Toulouse isn't cheap, but it's no way near as expensive as Paris. But toulouse must surely hold the world record for the city with the most dog shit on it's...
