Doc will conform, but I believe the base amp circuit was related to a certain infamous RCA 1950's PA amp circuit so beloved by a manufacturer in Salisbury
These were available in kit form too IIRC.

Re: Unipivots
Apologies for having another senior moment, but G30 B is starting to ring bells now - why the fugg did I have to chuck all these old mags out - a damned good clean up may have saved them (three decades in the loft and long before I discovered the internet, let alone audio websites)

Re: Unipivots
Old age creeping up, but what was the difference between the Neat G309 and G20? I remember the former as it was widely mentioned in the late 60's HiFi Sound mags I used to collect.

Re: Unipivots
Interesting difference of opinions here.. The deck I did my comparisons on is my trusty old beloved Dual 701, Van Damme exit cables, additional Spacemat and a selection of identical cartridge carriers. The M3-D had ballast added to increase intertia and the N21 is supposed to offer better tracking a...

Re: News/ Cartridge.
I always liked the 95E on a top grade turntable, as most of the blandness dissipated somewhat... My own take is that price of cartridges has nothing whatever to do with the parts cost. I've been told from a couple of different sources that fancy cantilevers and 'naked' diamond profiles don't cost si...

Re: News/ Cartridge.
Shane, it's a difficult one for me.. So many 1970's rock albums NEEDED a bit of sexing up 'Fruitbox style' to become truly involving to listen to and the late 70's LP12/Grace 707 and Supex 900E really didn't sound all plump and rounded to me. It was the Ittok that really ruined the LP12 sonics for a...

Re: Unipivots
It'll cost you more, but an ADC XLM of whatever vintage will do a good job too. Mk1 XLM's NEED a very low mass tonarm with a little damping (the Transcriptors Fluid Arm was a good match), but the MK2 onwards, improved or otherwise, were very good and I believe the more universal XLM III had Jico mad...

Re: News/ Cartridge.
I'm a clumsy beggar and just found it a faff (says the man who used to garner a fair reputation for setting up wayward LP12's back in the day)...
