Re: AP20 vinyl trouble
"Sorry mate you don't understand, you are not running the amp harder" All I mean is running that amp for let's say 4hrs at three quarters it would be close to overheating if not already gone, but at hardly any volume it would be quite comfortable. It got quite hot at just over an hr. I did...

Re: AP20 vinyl trouble
Which Cyrus? Old ones had a log law, as many other amps do, which means 'all or nothing' in the first third of rotation. Not a lot happens thereafter. Volume controls are just that, a means of matching the volume level. Many sources, from phono stages, to old tuners and tape decks, to the significa...

Re: AP20 vinyl trouble
Understood cheers doc. I don't want to damage the amp by running it at higher volumes to compensate. Just to go onto another subject, when u design your phono stages to say a particular cartridge spec would that hinder someone upgrading to another cartridge would they have to get the phono reconfigu...

Re: AP20 vinyl trouble
There is no gain controls, it's as basic as it comes to be fair. To which i'am aware of its capabilities, it was such a shock as my cyrus isn't affected to such a degree as this.

AP20 vinyl trouble
Upon being very fortunate to demo a friends ap20 I have found it doesn't seem to work well with my project debut phono stage in the sense that I have to crank up the volume to at least half way to get an adequate volume. I mean I say my phono stage there could be tt or cartridge issues too. Any inpu...

Re: Sony PS-6750
That is why I stick with MM nowadays. With MC you have to buy a whole new cart or send it off for a re-tip. I don't find a good MM worse, just different to a good MC. Vinyl is just such a bizarre format to be using in 2014 I don't really worry to much about the fidelity as long as it sounds good wi...

Re: Sony PS-6750
Yes it is the stylus that deteriorates it basically gets blocked but it will get blocked before you wear it out[/quote]
But unless you purchase a new stylus from the original manufacturer your likely to get an inferior one

Re: Sony PS-6750
Well I wanted a PL-71 as I like the look of it but haven't seen a nice one for sale in ages, not to mention one that I could afford (waiting for the Doc to sell me his ;) ) However I've managed to pick up a 6750 but it's still got its original cartridge. The Ortofon 2M Blue seems to get ok feedback...

I'm not keen on the colour of the "learn more and buy" links would suit more of a grey or silver colour to me, Also I think it would look more professional to say "full details."
