Re: Cats & Hifi

My kitty uses the speakers as a base for jumping to shelves higher on... Luckily I've had metal grills made so none of the drivers can get damaged in the process - and there have been a few occasions where he would have riped them apart probably. He's lost interest in crawling behind the amps and pl...

Re: Metrum

I've had the Rega DAC (not R) before the Octave actually and the Octave is in a different league when it comes to giving insight into music / musical flow. The Rega was very listenable though, lovely musical sound, never offensive. Very un-digital I always though. Greatly benefited when used with a ...

Re: Metrum

Thanks for the write up! Glad to hear that you liked it - guess my ears didn't deceive me, when I opted for the Octave. The Musette is supposed to be a step up compared to the Octave due to the new chips... Just a quick note - the original entry level Metrum was the Duo, followed by the Quad, and th...

Re: Metrum

If you do get a listen - please share your thoughts. I'd be particularly interested in how the new "entry" model sounds (the Musette). But please bear in mind that (at least the old ones) are far from detail freaks, but prioritise musicality and are a bit easier on the ear that most of the...

Re: Metrum

I own the (older) Metrum Octave. And very good it is (to my ears at least).

Re: US Presidential Elections

How much of a Hilary Clinton presidency will in reality be a Bill Clinton presidency. Would that be a bad thing - hopefully he has grown out of getting teenage girls to give him blow jobs. It might have been the other way around... There was a joke going around at the time of Clinton's pres...

Re: Another Allison 6 refurb thread!

How much of Bison Kit would be needed to glue in the steel plates to an average pair of bookshelf speakers?

Re: Have you ever had french audio at home ?

I've had some Focal Chorus 714S speakers... Never really worked well in my room, so have been moved on pretty quickly.

Re: Auralic Mini Streamer

Various Squeezeboxes also have Tidal support. Squeezebox+ (SB+) is actually superb - great sound (with massive external PSU unit), easy to implement/use, great remotes for tablets, no need to have a computer near your hi-fi. I very much doubt you could get a better sound for what they go for nowaday...
