Many similarities. We are reaping the consequences of the dash for gas and doing away with coal.

Re: Binge watching TV
Best thing we've watched this year has been the excellent Sherwood on BBC1. A 6 part series all available on BBC iPlayer with a veritable who's who of British acting talent on show. Anything with the great Lesley Manville and Robert Glenister in must be good in my eyes. Set in a small Notts mining ...

Re: Brexit Benefits -the sunny uplands
Best protection is by getting vaccinated methinks! Very true. Even though I tested negative I think I had it a couple of months ago as Omicron is apparently not so easy to detect. Either that or it was the worst case of flu I can remember. Felt very rough for a couple of days and it cleared up afte...

Have been hit by the airport chaos. Not long after we booked flights from Bristol to Newcastle for a 60th birthday bash in October Ryanair have informed us it has been cancelled. Some, including me, have been put on a later cheaper flight without a refund. It will mean missing out on the Thursday ev...

Surprised the story acknowledged that the driver was a woman in these politically correct times. Wonder if she was texting.
The Slash/Ozzy Osbourne song Baby can't drive instantly came to mind.

Surprised Paul didn't mention 'Trillains Bar', right in the City Centre by the Library. A mecca for Metalheads where punters still wear lovingly patched/painted Denim jackets. We might well be heading there as the person whose 60th it is sings in a AC/DC cover band. :guiness; :character-beavisbutth...

All we have in this backwater shithole is pubs to avoid........ That seems to be the case in most places. Very sad comparing Cardiff now with what it was in the 80s. An old famous pub, the Vulcan, is being moved to a museum. Cardiff is famous for Brains Beer. There are still some Brains pubs left b...

What's everyone thoughts on this year's Glastonbury? I have enjoyed it without ever being immersed in it. I still have loads to catch up on but no one's set has yet knocked me for 6 but I haven't given up hope that might happen as I work through the missed sets on iPlayer.. Saw clips of Paul McCart...

Re: Nights out in your town - members recommend
We have booked the Quayside Premier Inn so the Crown Posada is probably close and looks good. Rosie's Bar seems a good venue near St James Park. As Brentford is a long way away and not a big attraction we should be able to get tickets. Are any of the pubs near the racecourse where we will be going o...
