Re: New Heybrook HB1 launched...

They were easy to drive. I partnered them with a NAD 3020 fronted by a Rega Planar 3. A modest system which sounded very good.

That was probably about what I paid, it was a long time ago.

Re: New Heybrook HB1 launched...

I bought these speakers in 1983 after comparing them with a number of similarly priced ones. They sounded so much better and cost around £180. I had them for over twenty years. Fond memories.

Re: Munich Hi End show

I can accept R&D costs in the context of emerging science and new technology. Where audio is concerned this only applies to streaming as everything else has been around for decades.

R&D does not enter calculations?
Isn't that funny that they never mention R&D right? ;]
If there is no R&D the implication is that it is existing technology and will not sound better than something a fraction of the price.

Re: NVA Blog

Putting a P50SA inbetween cleared everything up - and provided the protection that RD always advised as he was suspicious of digital volume controls, thinking that they could 'glitch' to a max setting and blow up amp and/or speakers. That RME DAC looks really nice though. If I had more cash than br...

Re: NVA Blog

I've been using the RME DAC (with it's own volume control) directly into the little S80 with the Cube prototypes, this morning. It sounds bloody marvellous. If I only played digital, then this would be a corker of a system for (relatively) little money...we'll be sure to give it a run out at the No...

Re: Scam Warning

This is one I am sad to admit I fell for. Because it was only a couple of quid and I have had recent problems with the Royal Mail with items being lost my suspicions were not aroused. On Thursday I received a text saying that a parcel could not be delivered because no one was home and was given what...

Re: Brexit Benefits -the sunny uplands

If my experience of yesterday is anything to go by one of the biggest supporters of Brexit, Tim Wetherspoon, is being hit in the pocket. There was only one person serving at the bar lunch time in his large Chepstow pub and the wait was intolerable. The place was packed as it was a glorious day...
