Re: Subjectivity. Linn's contribution in the 70's?

I note that the Trio is automatic. I started reading hifi magazines in 79 and any turntable like that was the devil's spawn. I believed what I was reading.

Re: Obits

Very sad news. He was part of the first band I saw, Wings back in 75. An occasion which will always remain with me. They performed Go Now.
RIP

Re: Subjectivity. Linn's contribution in the 70's?

In "defence" of Linn, think of all the work they've generated in the ongoing LP12 upgrades. Not only did people spend a large amount of money firstly buying the product but continued to spend "improving" it. And when it didn't live up to the hype, you were told it was not set up...

……….. the money Ivor paid the Thatcher Government to keep trading standards off his back. Do you have any evidence to support your accusation? From what Richard Dunn posted on this forum and I respect his opinions. It is in the archives along with a telephone conversation he had with Ivor about it....

Re: Subjectivity. Linn's contribution in the 70's?

Surely this went on for many decades- I remember late 80s early 90s reading about how wonderful the linn Lp12 was - I never knew about DD nor Idler either- run both atm. I gave up on hifi magazines in the mid 80s so I was out of the loop. It would seem that it was only the power of the Internet whi...

Re: Subjectivity. Linn's contribution in the 70's?

I became interested in hifi early in 79 when I bought a budget system out of my student grant. I read the magazines and was initially taken in, Linn had stolen a march on all competitors and their products were superior, justifying the high prices. If I had the money I might well have bought an LP12...

Re: CD - it's not dead yet!

Storage was the big issue for me as the CD collection got huge, far too big when we were moving and down sizing. Ripped them all and sold them. No regrets. Have not had a CD player for years except in the car. Do not use this as I prefer a USB stick. I am now converting Flac rips to WAV. I am also b...
