Re: Yuin; little earbuds - big sound !

Sony's have a tendency towards overblown bass - but these rein that in somewhat to 'full' and just short of 'boom'. They...

Re: The Hi-Fi Industry and Hobby

Very interesting on the history of retailing I remember walking down Tottenham court road and looking at all the Hifi goodies in the 80s. I still think the Japanese were way ahead in the 80s I particular Technics decks and JVC VCR etc. never rated British companies much apart from speakers. Like the...

Re: Moving to 4.0 or 5.0 or 7.0 from 2.0

I bought a Marantz SR6010 for £480. I've initially set it up as a 7.0 system. Using EV Sentrys as fronts, a Linn Isobarik as the centre speaker, Saras as rears and Heybrook HB1's as sides. After watching an Our Brand is Crisis DVD on it my children declared that it was a waste of money. We'l...

Re: Some SERIOUS advice please!

I will probably wait until December 2017 and go the 'whole hog' ; but may go with NVA cables first. The problem is, I have an obsession with cable 'direction'. Having read numerous articles in the past about 'all cables being directional, some more than others', I find it kind of reassuring if ther...

Re: Advice on Speaker Stands

Are Reliant Robins cars :-? They used to be classified as tricycles, that's why my dad had one as you could drive it then on a motorcycle license. Yes that was their main reason for success that they were bought by Die hard bikers that had to have more space, there was a four wheeled version called...

Re: Advice on Speaker Stands

  Yes I have, my dad owned one for years. That type of stability/instability is more about the centre of gravity and yes, for that 4 wheels or feet is better, but not for "rocking" stability. Q.What do you do if you see a robin doing a wheelspin A. Faint Q: What do you call a Ro...
