Re: What are the things the perfect forum should provide
This is a great question: from my point of view it's knowledge and information first and foremost - the possibility of good advice etc - and then, after a while if you feel REALLY COMFORTABLE the next level would be a bit of fun, entertainment and some banter. The best forum I have experienced is th...

Re: Mix and match.
Thanks Doc,
it sounds much more straightforward than my convoluted thinking. I will revisit this after Christmas and be in touch.

Re: Mix and match.
I loved my 'Bolt-up' NAP250 and of the later CB and Olive eras, the 135's came closest and for most purposes and after countless dems I've done, they were limited by the preamps used with them (compare a 72 with a 52 to get the idea). Now, in theory and given a clean source, a passive SHOULD be far...

Re: Mix and match.
Good shout Geoff.
My plan was to get a DAC and then look at the amps, and my original post was a sort of "thinking out loud" thing.
I will need to get cabling anyway as you say (either with a passive pre or no, so that's certainly food for thought.

Re: Mix and match.
Here's the thing. I'm not going to throw money at my system like I did before I had kids and responsibilities and I asked *if it was possible* to mix and match as this seemed like it could be an easy win if there was a gain to be made. The thing is I'm pretty sure my power amps aren't "crap&quo...

Thanks Terry but this person gave me open advice: I will listen and take my own council.TerryMadher wrote:DSJR, are you Noel Keywood in disguise? Your grammatically poor sentence construction is very typical of his often published style.
What is your contribution to my enquiry at this stage?

Mix and match.
Is it possible to use an NVA pre amp with, say, a pair of Naim NAP 135s?
The Naim cable routing through the HiCap is what makes me wonder (star earthing? Is that a thing?)
Anyway I would like to try maybe a P90 in there instead maybe with some special cabling?
Thanks in advance.
