Re: Stager Silver Solids reworked

Happy to oblige. TIS is offered by Doc at a discount elsewhere on this site under NVA and subject TIS Mk2. Silver wire: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fine-Silver-999-Round-Wire-0-25mm-to-4-12mm-Dead-Soft-/221550997364?var=520405060296&hash=item339577ef74:m:m-RJY3J-JL6nHiS6bf-RpUQ Eichmann bullets (C...

Re: Stager Silver Solids reworked

Had another bad mains afternoon. When the volume was high enough to spread the stereo image reasonably, :( the upper mid range was excruciating - not quite deafening but almost painful. That BMU can't come soon enough. :(

Re: A Person Should Be Careful On What They Make Offers On

A friend of mine bought the same NuVista CD player and MF gave him the matching gold strips for his A3 preamp and A300 power amp. There is a possibility (but not good odds) MF may be able to do something for you. But it won't be cheap and their service is appalling. I had a fault on my CD remote and...

Re: A Person Should Be Careful On What They Make Offers On

There are only 2 problems with the NuVista integrated - it's ugly. I have the CD player and it's a good thing it sounds fine. Being the USA it will most likely be 110v - or have I got that wrong?

Of course you don't have to put the PSU on display. It works just as well hidden away

Re: Stager Silver Solids reworked

This is an interim review of TIS (Mk1) and is here because I want to refer to the Silver Solids (above). How much use it will be I don't know for a cable that is obselescent but here goes. I judge cables on 2 main criteria: a) tonal balance. The strays over into musicality. How good does the music s...

Re: Introduce Yourselves

I have to agree with the Doc. I'm running in a set of TIS and they are different to any other cable I've used. I'll maybe post a review soon - although what use it would be I don't know as TIS (Mk1) is on the way out.

Re: Waiting for God :- WHO

Col The BIG problem is that the good ole NHS isn't a lot of good at mental illness and most of us are very poor at admitting we have a problem. I know, I've been there. Go see the quack and see if you can get counseling - even pay for it if you must. It's slow but it does work and there's no nasty a...

Re: Valve damping rings..

I've got valves in my kit and it's all on (cheap E Bay) wooden cones. I struggle to see how vibration would affect the valves but it wouldn't cost a lot to find out if it changes the sound. I also know that valves can become microphonic - I've heard it. But not they are not normally that way. Best t...

Re: Pioneer PL-71 Refurbishmant

It might be worth trying some steel wool on the stained parts and then finish the top in a hard wax like Treatex. It will always come off again with white spirit and steel wool. However, the Treatex is quite expensive and comes in quite large volumes - enough to do many deck tops. :-? Hope this helps?

Re: Stager Silver Solids reworked

I've had the interconnects running for a couple of weeks now and, a little to my surprise, they have improved quite a bit. The imaging is superb on the right material and the tonal balance is superb but most of all, they seem to let the music flow. I always enjoyed my system but now I enjoy it even ...
