Re: Building wooden hifi enclosures
Back in the day, it was pretty common to find amplifiers and tuners sold in either chassis form or with a wooden enclosure. The Armstrong 500 series and Rogers Ravensbrook / Ravensbourne spring to mind. They had ventilation slots in the top IIRC.

Doc Modding a pair of Mission CP168 Bass/Mid Drivers
I have a pair of these https://www.hifi-selbstbau.de/datenbler-mainmenu-40/tiefmittelt-mainmenu-58/31-mission-cp168m3 from a previous project. Looking at the info they seem like candidates for Doc Modding to help deal with those peaks at around 3.8khz and 7khz. In the absence of a dust cap, I'd appr...

Re: Computer Audio. Wish There Was a Bullet Proof Blue Print
Much much better than a £50 Chord (I think) jobby. My DIY job was about £20 for materials.

Thanks George. I ended up making my own USB data only cable: solid silver in PTFE as an unshielded twisted pair. A friend uses the same, but feeding a Wyred4Sound USB to SPDIF converter plus a separate DC power supply.

Re: Computer Audio. Wish There Was a Bullet Proof Blue Print
Does your USB DAC (if that's that the Singxer is) require USB power? If not, you may get away with a signal only cable or a 'splitter' where the USB power cable bit can be removed after handshake. I've found the 5v USB power bit to degrade the SQ to a noticeable effect.

Re: The old gits doctors waiting room chat thread
OK, my turn. Incurable autoimmune disease requiring same immunosuppression treatment as transplant patients with the consequent side-effects including dodgy digestion (always need immodium to hand) and ease of picking up infections (it's a case of taking the meds or die). Arthritis in both knees plu...

Re: Cube positioning.
I recall going to a show a few years ago where an exhibitor refused to play a certain CD I'd taken along as his system 'didn't play that sort of thing well'. I believe it was a bit of Radiohead. Whereas difficult tracks such as 'Reckoner' are in fact pretty good indicators of a system's ability to m...

Re: Cube positioning.
Very useful info for me too, not least as your preferred musical genres are similar to mine. Our current house has 10ft 6in high ceilings and I have Atacama 50cm high stands which sounds like they might be ideal.
