Re: DIY thoughts of the day
Hi Stu. I listen to many genres. Currently listening to Neil Ardley's Kaleidoscope of Rainbows, one of a tiny number of jazz albums in my library. Imaging is one of those things I like, but not at the exclusion of tonal balance etc. The beauty of OBs and DML panels is that room modes have far less i...

Re: DIY thoughts of the day
You got me all excited, till I realised it was a fancy name for nxt panels. I've got some in my TV, they are not a patch on my speakers, so my excitement was quashed. Much depends on (a) panel size, (b) panel material (c) exciter positioning (d) panel suspension. My panels run from 300hz upwards an...

Re: DIY thoughts of the day
Today's DIY thought for the day: Distributed Mode Loudspeakers (or DMLs for short). I've ditched the mid & tweeter bit of my OB speakers in favour of DIY DML panels. Bottom line: better than anything else I've had in my system in terms of speakers. Background here: https://patents.google.com/pat...

Re: TV Series Odd and Si-fi
Babylon 5 anyone? I still think it's one of the best sci-fi series ever. The individual, very long in some cases, story arcs were so unusual for American TV and actually required people to remember characters and events from previous seasons. Some others I've watched... Farscape was another one I e...

Shostakovich: Symphony No 15, his last. Still up there in my top 5 composers list (top 3 probably).

Re: Infinite baffle idea
Thanks. Do you know of any 12" ? - i can't get 15" between the floor joists. When I was working on my OB design, I had to weigh up 1 x 15 inch vs 2 x 12 inch per side. In the end, I found a real paucity of highish QTS 12 inch drivers. The pro driver market seems one to look at. I'll see w...

Re: Infinite baffle idea
For a bass driver, the Monacor SP-382PA is an excellent 15 inch driver - decent QTS & low Fs. It's what I use in my OBs.
