Re: Amp board replacement
Whilst setting up his games console my son unplugged the amp and speakers. When he plugged everything back in the amp started smoking. I quickly turned everything off and unplugged it so I didn’t get a chance to analyse what he’d done but I’m guessing some sort of speaker cable short circuiting by p...

Re: Amp board replacement
Appreciate the replies. Funnily enough I did spot that ebay add, I'll keep an eye on it. My only fear would be mixing and matching differently aged boards. I understand the design won't have changed but there is something more reassuring about two brand new boards. I'm already inside the amp, I can ...

Amp board replacement
Hello, Rather an unfortunate situation, one of the boards in my monoblock A80 MKII amps has fried (possible teenage son related cause). Is there a way of purchasing a pair of pre-populated boards (I'd rather replace both at the same time)? Am I right in thinking the boards are the same across the ra...

Re: Nva a80 mkii upgrade
Hi Paul, Thanks for answering so prompt. Looks like I’ll be needing an upgrade soon then. I have a second question which I hope you could help with. I need to buy some new speakers (currently using a pair of Epos es11). For a number of reasons, several wife related, I’m looking at vintage style larg...

Nva a80 mkii upgrade
Hi, I’m at a bit of a crossroads. My Nva a80 mkii monoblocks hum. Nothing new there I guess but following a house move I’m closer to them than I was before and given that I leave the amps on 24/7 I can’t get past the background noise when I’m in the room not listening to music. I have tried both wit...

Re: Amp a/b switch
Thanks a lot for all the replies and for drawing my attention to both further potential issues as well as possible solutions. To be honest I think the safest (not cheapest) way to achieve what I would like to do is to replace my current AVR with one that has preouts for front L/R. That way I can jus...

Amp a/b switch
Hi, I would ideally like to run my all NVA setup for stereo listening and add my AVR for TV/Movies as the room correction really helps for that type of content. I have a simple amp A/B switch box made by Dynavox. It works well in this scenario with amps that aren't NVA as I can just use any speaker ...

NVA PRE load resister value
Hi, I've just added a P50sa to complete my NVA setup: BMU, Phono 2 dual power supply, MKII a80 Monoblocks I got the P50sa off an aquaintance (for free) but he seems to have changed the load resistors on the stepped attenuator to : 10R 0.4W Charcroft Z-Foil Resistor Is that the right value?! With vin...
