Re: 2023 WAM show announced!

That is a very nice touch Paul we raised a very decent amount for the charity last year and hoping this will be the same this year as well . It is getting closer now an I have started a large bag being filled with wires , routers tools and other essentials that I might need . So far my system has wo...

Re: Quad ESL 57 buying advice, please

Which Croft OTL is that ? Mine was the original PL509 version and I know Glenn used the original Mono Blocks of this amp to power his own Quad ESL 57 which was one of the reasons I tried them in the first place . I hade the amp back to Glenn three times but sadly just could not get them to gel with ...

Re: DAC to the Future

Chord use on their upper range models a very different filter type that is not tied to the original frequency in the same way .

Re: DAC to the Future

I can only add that after some advice from one of the engineers at dCS I always switch the output of my Purcell to either 176.4 with 44.1 content or 192 for 48 . it does indeed make a small but noticeable difference and it is very sensible to use the direct multipliers of the source as it makes the ...

Re: MQA CD

What would be good to compare is that Album but on a straight CD release . I have a feeling that what happened with SACD might well be going on here . In the early days of SACD they very carefully remastered the Albums and used the same master for both the SACD and the CD level on the dual play disc...

Re: Are CDs the future??!!

Re: A nice problem to have?

In that case my original choice would stand and having an S300 myself and having heard the Integrated I do not think you will be disappointed .

Re: A nice problem to have?

In my view the difference for the S versions with two transformers is the real sound quality up lift . I also find the appearance of the satin finish much nicer so for me at least the 400AS would be my choice . Only important thing missing from this question is what speakers you would using . If pow...

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.

I use Vortexbox on a LIV Zen (Innous before the name change) . It works very well but when I got it I needed a bigger HD so bought an 8 TB one then found that in order to get full use of this would have to load Vortexbox . Had major worries about being able to do this but it was a breeze and I now h...

Re: DAC to the Future

Would also suggest that this is worth a look as well I much prefer the top loading mech which has less to go wrong . I also like the half width set up as well but we are all different . The added bonus is this is likely to be cheaper than the Schiit unit . https://en.shanling.com/article-IntroET3.html
