Re: New music from Pink Floyd
I don’t really feel like this is a ‘Pink Floyd’ recording. Not to take anything away from the sentiment, but DG wasn’t even a founding member of PF. As for Waters, he’s reviving up for an upcoming US tour starting in July, so describing him as “vaguely alive and kicking” is a bit off target. I think...

Let’s not forget the liberal application of alcohol. It works well for cleaning contacts.

NVA Cubes (courtesy of Fretless). Up firing mid bass, front firing tweeter. Mid bass is doped and run wide open, tweeter has a single high pass filter capacitor and a padding resistor. Simplicity  https://i.imgur.com/hZ91J42.jpeg Interesting design. I don’t see them at the NVA website, are th...

Re: Speakers
The Altec 416 drivers in the Valencias are all time classics, for what they do in the upper bass and midrange. The ported bass is a compromise on them. Was it Great Plains Audio (GPA) that you got the modded crossover from? The Piega C40's have interesting ribbon drivers. And an all aluminium cabin...

[quote=dazed_and_confused post_id=227742 time=1646162277 user_id=30179 Which models of Altec, Piega and QLN speakers are they? And can you give us an overview of the relative strengths and weaknesses of each speaker when compared to the others? As well as an indication of how much you paid for each...

Re: Townshend seismic isolation products
Folks, this whole thread was a great read, right up my alley. Sorry for being late to the party but I just wanted to chip-in with another semi-DIY option. In December I bought a pair of Spatial Audio X3s. (These are a dipole design). They came with crappy cone-shaped feet from the manufacturer and t...

Re: Speakers
. . . . . Most audiophiles over here believe that all Klipsch stuff is Mid-Fi at best, so I had to sell mine before anyone heard I had them. . . . . Seems like a pretty odd reason to sell your speakers. If you enjoyed them then keep them. If not then surely they should have been gone already? Hey h...

Re: Completed The Scheu Turntable Set Up
@NeonKnight Congratulations on the wonderful vinyl playback devices you have. I'd a friend some years ago with the Cosmos vacuum and an SME arm, it sounded fantastic. I've also had a keen interest in the DV505 but haven't been able to score a MKII, so I'm still waiting. Not that it matters but are y...

Re: Speakers
The original poster craved clarity and dynamics in speakers. Try finding both of them in modern British speakers. Quad Electrostatics. Are they made in China now? I know that Richard rated the 57's above the 63's. I'm not sure if he ever seriously auditioned modern quad ESL's. Brand new Klipschorns...
