Re: Speakers on YouTube.
I'd be tempted to cheat by recording the output from my amp after passing it through my reverb unit. Just to wind people up and see what sort of stupid reaction they came up with.

Re: Re: Wood or Wire?
I was deeply unimpressed when I heard BC1's. I just couldn't get my toe tapping to them. Couldn't get involved and immersed in the music.

Re: Are HiFiDealers necessary?
never let a sweeping statement get in the way of a balanced argument eh? ...Now the above doesn't take into account what these people may recommend, or their particular tastes, yes they recommend what they sell, but usually the have chosen to sell these brands as they genuinely believe that these a...

Re: Is High-End Audio actually necessary?

You could hold ...

Re: Is High-End Audio actually necessary?
I own a load of high end kit - according to my definition of high end: Cost over a million Yen when new. Weigh over 25 kgs for TT's, over 20 kgs for amps, over 70 kgs for speakers. I prefer every single high end component I've bought over the mid end and budget kit I was using before. I wouldn't be ...

Re: The £100 Speaker Challenge
I bought: two Denon DN-C630 CD players for £15 each. a Urei 6400 4 channel amp for £26 (1 channel not working). It sounded fine when I first bought it, but has gone hummy through the speakers now. The there's my Heybrook HB1 speakers, bought new in 1983. They were unused for a while with rotted foam...

Re: DR ratings: vinyl era vs modern era
There were some albums, like the Robson & Jerome that didn't have an entry in the DR database.
Feel free to measure them with the right tools and add them to the DR website.
