Re: When hi-res audio stops making sense…

There is a huge amount of confusion, possibly deliberate, around the term compression. There is digital compression, a software process that reduces the size of a file, preferably it is "lossless". Then there is audio compression or dynamic range compression. The former can be removed to r...

Re: When hi-res audio stops making sense…

As I am sure you know bit depth determines dynamic range. It seems rather pointless to compress the dynamics out of a recording, or performance, and then issue it as 24bit. A friend, who used to run a recording studio, once cautioned that “if you can hear the compression, you’re using too much”. He...

Re: Stu

Today i have played at one of the least enjoyable gigs I have ever had the misfortune to be part of. The whole thing was a catalogue of disasters. I am hoping that a good night's sleep makes me feel better. Easy to say, I know, but shit happens, mate. Far better (and far more famous) musicians than...

Re: Taking the piss out of politics

One final comment on the above - As Farage is currently crowing about the apparent apology from Nat West, owners of Coutts, perhaps it's about time that we - in the spirit of " doing the right thing " - received an apology from the frog-faced fuckwit for all the lies he told about Brexit,...

Re: Taking the piss out of politics

Farage is the banker who can no longer bank... I 'love' that the tory press is whipping itself into a real froth over this, whilst far too many of our populace qualify for a food rather than a posh nobs bank. Not entirely the most self aware people on the planet. One of those rare cases where a pri...

I wish I could see the images in Slinger's posts, but all I get is the word "image" . . . If you have in any way restricted Facebook that is what happens. I use container tabs in Firefox which prevent Facebook from seeing my internet activity. I usually copy the image link and open it in ...

Would moving all the turntables away from the speakers be an option?
And moving the pre and power amps too. With a long speaker cable run?
I agree.
If you have to have long cables they should be the ones carrying the highest level signals.
