Re: The Narrative Response .

Interesting point of view here... My personal view is that certain people will always think that certain other people are wrong about something fundamental and if it wasn't for religion they'd simply have to find another excuse to attack each other over it, and they most certainly would find that e...

Re: GENERAL ELECTION JUNE 8TH 2017

Doc when you are siding with two of lesser intellects on h/S it is time to review your position . ;) Choose life Choose labour want an end to being told on the day if you have work , an end to every target in the national health service being reduced , to outsourcing , an end to leaving University ...

Re: The Hi-Fi Industry and Hobby

Records coming back is the first stage, real hi-fi will come back as well - what goes around comes around. Records coming back is hopefully not a sign as Vinyl was all about a cheap medium even in the 60s and there is a huge specialised market that will develop in China and India so maybe the futur...

Re: The Hi-Fi Industry and Hobby

This http://www.audioholics.com/loudspeaker-design/high-fidelity-loudspeakers is quite interesting. In particular, "By the time we have built a finished $600 retail box, the amount of money left over for actual components (drivers, crossover, etc) may be no more than 10% of the retail price. I...

Re: The Artisan

The problem with artisan is price . NVA aside , it is primarily sold at a premium to the competition . Now that is not to say that the price is not worth it , it is simply to say it is priced higher than the competition. We live in a county at the moment were the majority of peoples disposable inco...

Re: The Artisan

My 3 year old daughter is at the head of this craft explosion. She makes her own cards all the time. Watch out moonpig. It is to be applauded. I hate big business with a vengeance - a faceless, non caring could not give a shit attitude with pleasing the shareholders being the only motivation. Fook ...

Re: Interesting Article on Time-Phase Coherence

Given that a human female voice, for example, has fundamentals in the 300hz to 1khz region with harmonics then up to 8khz region and then with a spot of air on top, I would have thought that phase coherence across two or more drivers was essential as without it the probability of phase induced null...

Re: Poll : Where will Donald Trump start World War 3?

It would be like dog biting an elephants leg. The soviet forces are just not up to it, they will be wiped out. All they have to make anyone scared is their nuclear arsenal. Remember WW2. They crushed the Nazis. It has as much to do with financial strength as military might. Bluntly, anyone not afra...

Re: Interesting Article on Time-Phase Coherence

Good article here which goes a long way to help explain why the Doc's speaker recipes and philosophy works. http://greenmountainaudio.com/speaker-time-phase-coherence/ Phrases like: "'Technology in the service of marketing' has led our industry astray over the past 20 years", "Measur...

Re: What does your car say about you ?

I think finding a good garage that wont totally rip you off helps Very much so, and there are some awful ones out there. Back in the 90’s i was a manager for a well known fast-fit company and it was common place for the staff to spray shock absorbers with WD40 (so it looked as if they were leaking,...
