Re: Balanced line mains

Bit of an update now I have had more chance to listen. There is more clarity in the presentation and from what is probably a less than ideal speaker position the sound stage (sorry) is deeper. Its just very easy to pick things out if you want to but without losing the music. The bass seems louder, w...

Re: The Most Minimal Computer Music Converter

I managed to get Volumio 1.2 fully functional last night. This was effectively the third attempt on a another sd card including the WebUI on my andriod tablet. The sound quality is very good and all the splashy top end and light bass has gone . I will listen some more before going back to the Squeez...

Re: The Most Minimal Computer Music Converter

I'm assuming that your PC is wired - you can get the webUI to work from a tablet but you need to know the IP address of the Volumio instance. Sound@Home allows you to control up to 4 instance of Volumio (I've got it working with 2) and you get the useful bits of the WebUI - but not the configuratio...

Re: The Most Minimal Computer Music Converter

Yes by way of clarification I couldn't get the WebUI to connect from my tablet only via a PC. I had partial success with MPDroid but that seemed flakey and stopped working but hadn't tried Sound@Home. Something to try now that I know that the hardware is functional.

Re: The Most Minimal Computer Music Converter

Yeah I might have persevered and I got Volumio working streaming radio, but another problem is that it doesn't work on an andriod device. Squeezeplug does and gave me a chance to do a reasonably direct comparison. What I don' t know is how much the software affects the end result. Perhaps I will giv...

Re: The Most Minimal Computer Music Converter

Well reading posts from terrybooth and Lazmo got me interested enough to have a go and I wanted to have something to compare to the Squeezebox Touch. After a short deliberation I plumped for the IQaudIO iDAC and here it is with similar case to Lazmo's: 20140609_193821.jpg 20140609_193836.jpg 2014060...

Re: NVA AP20.

I still have an AP20 I bought second hand in the late 80s. It has had the potentiometer changed in the nineties (and could do with new one now). It was head and shoulders above anything in my budget that I heard at the time and I still use it as a back up and when I want some quality summertime soun...
