Re: Speakers
I wanted a lighter driver for the new Cube because my gut feeling having owned Klipsch Heresy (and a conversation with Steve57 at a bake off) convinced me that a lighter driver would improve transient response / immediacy. It has taken time to find a lighter driver that would work well without a tr...

Re: Speakers
I have no idea how Lindsay earned his living but I wonder how he would feel if people were so dismissive of his trade, profession or vocation ? This is not relevant to the thread, and it is unnecessarily personal. I will not be impressed by what I perceive as sly attempts to circumnavigate the ad-h...

Re: Speakers
Building speakers is great fun, and relatively easy-peasy (compared to other primary components). I see what you say, and I sort of agree, but (there's always a but) the difficulty is knowing what drivers to start with, and what the likely outcome might be. Actually chopping up sheets of chipboard/...

Re: Speakers
If I knew lyndsey was shit at his job I would say so., just like everyone on this forum says about certain manufacturers It's absolutely nothing to do with anyone being shit at their job, just the opposite really. More being good at what one does yet getting no respect or recognition, and how that ...

Re: Speakers
When it comes to speakers I'd attach little value to someone else's design work. It's a bloody speaker. It's not a Saturn V moon rocket. We've already heard how it can be a rocky road to getting a loudspeaker design working properly, so attaching little value to that work seems very dismissive, be ...

Re: Speakers
Can't say I'd ever heard of Bozak, but having looked him up he seems to have been successful. In the 60s KEF did a couple of speaker kits, and I got the KEF kit 3, which was the baffle from the KEF Concerto complete with drivers and crossovers. A 3 way design, and only needing a cabinet to be built....

Re: Speakers
If the pleasure in DIY is coming up with something that is your own design, would self-assembly to someone else's instructions really count?
A fair and valid question. Also, as SteveS57 mentioned, don't under estimate how long it takes new drivers to run in, or loosen up, can take ...
