Re: RCA - XLR Digital Interconnect

Understood Doc, Thought they were already made up. I'll have a think about it and let you know.

Sympathies with the house move - it took us about 15 years of hard work to convert the farmhouse. Blood, sweat and tears in fairly equal quantities.

Re: RCA - XLR Digital Interconnect

Doc - I see there is a pait of 40cm XLR-RCA SSC's in the Ebay shop. Would it be possible to take one of those for use as a digital interconnect (assuming that it is XLR male to RCA male) or could you assemble one of 50cm if you don't want to split the set (would SSP2 be even better?). And what would...

Re: RCA - XLR Digital Interconnect

Thanks - the sound quality is really good. You've put my mind at ease. The DAC, I presume, recognises the SP/DIF input and adjusts itself accordingly. I was worried that some sort of electrical difference might affect one or other device in an adverse way. I did think of trying Beresford's Toslink c...

RCA - XLR Digital Interconnect

A question for the Doc and the other technically-minded folks: There is an XLR digital input socket on my Musical Fidelity M1DAC. I had a cable with an RCA plug at one end and an XLR plug at the other that came from an old studio equaliser and decided to experiment. Replacing the Toslink connection ...

Re: AP10H

The 325 is more accurate and better controlled than the 80. I had both and have kept the 80. Comfort issues with the 325 - which does need a good amp to drive it, as the Doc has said on another recent headphone thread.

Re: Recent ebay buys

Old magazine articles from the 70's can be fun. Certainly from a historical (hysterical?) perspective.

I had a quick look at Certamen, a lot of albums with varied styles, plenty to investigate. Thanks for the tip, Howard.

Re: NVA A40 - then and now

Ah, the joys of having a Sonos Connect and (most of) the collection on an HDD. Means you can flip from track to track without having to move. Started with Jean Michel Jarre 'Oxygene - New Master Edition' (he re-recorded the whole thing, note for note, after he couldn't get the rights for the origina...

Re: Winters coming

Help - it' all white outside! For the first time in 2 years we've got snow in The Netherlands. A couple of days ago it was +10C degrees at night, summer temperatures. The climate is severly screwed up at the moment. There were even hay-fever warnings this week from trees that had started with pollen...
