If that's to me, I spent over three hours listening through one last Thursday evening. It's the new Rega Aethos integrated amp.

Re: Amps - Whats in em and why?
I spoke to the sales manager of said product range on Thursday and he told me the signal path is actually quite simple (I have to take his word on it), but there's a lot of 'housekeeping' in there to keep things safe and reliable. He was quite surprised a pic of the innards had been published somewh...

Re: Simple stream
If Youtube is ok (is for me but some audio people look down on such) and you have an old laptop that can be spared to use as another 'source,' one option could be to site it near the amp, buy something like a Topping D10 USB dac for fifty quid or so, which has a pretty clean and ultra-sonic-safe out...

Re: Moles
Vinegar sprinkled where they 'go' is a great cat deterrent. Best of all is to get a cat of your own, as they are territorial and will keep others out, while usually not pooing in their own patch!

Re: DAC to the Future
I've been suggesting these for ages and when my aged thingie finally packs it in, Topping have been on my list . They also seem 'clean' at ultra-sonics too, so won't react hopefully with NVA. According to proper tests, the Dragonfly Cobalt is far less good than the red version and looks to be more o...

Re: Remote power supplies
Try shielding them first. Loads of wonderful amps out there with built in transformers in my experience.

Re: Remote power supplies
My own experience is that hum is a real possible problem with MC stages when the gain is so high on low level signals. DQ posted about the transformer cover he found useful in his Phono 1 with built in transformer and now set for MC. I believe that toroids have a kind of fig 8-shaped magnetic field ...

Re: New Computer Problems - HELP!
My shit laptop installed .Net 4.8 finally from a stand alone install avoiding Windows Update. Still won't touch the 1903 feature update (1903 has been on for ages now with no obvious issues) which is a huge download and 'installation' takes hours it seems. It gets to 70% and sometimes more and then ...

Re: New AV amp
Onkyo has had patchy representation over here over the years I gather but I remember the brand being a good well performing one. One thing about Yamaha... 'Audio' is but one of their many disciplines and I believe of all audio manufacturers these days, the amount of money Yamaha can put into R&D...
