Re: Another speaker build...

https://i.imgur.com/kfdX4rf.jpg We have sound. Just beta testing at the moment. (I'm still waiting for the acoustic foam to line the cabinet, and I need to trim the port.) But... not too shabby. My main relief is that the balance between the drivers is fine. And the smooth and dynamic presence of t...

Re: Tube buffer with Tube amp

I once had a Musical Fidelity one. [edit: it was the one just mentioned above] Bought it on impulse. Looked and felt lovely. When I got it home and plugged it in I literally could not hear any difference. But my flat mate could detect with 100% accuracy when it was on. Including when I forced him to...

No. The 308s are coaxial and designed for tiny vented cabinets. The holes are for ports. Probably my ideal speakers would be sealed. With large drivers and enormous cabinets, but I need some small boxes for this application.

Re: Another speaker build...

That xover looks rather too busy for my liking. Two coils , a capacitor and a sprinkling of power resistors.. Every component added takes something away from the music, all in my opinion of course. Apart from that crack on Doc. Are you lining it with concrete ? Not these, no. The second system does...

Re: Another speaker build...

Well, like an idiot I ordered small cans of primer. Hence that stage is incomplete.
Spent my build time yesterday making the crossovers.
Just waiting on a delivery of more primer today or tomorrow so I can get the cabinets moved on.

Another speaker build...

This one's for the second system. Decided I'd try the little brothers of the drivers in my main speakers. Got started on the cabinets on the weekend, and today the Monacor SP-308CX coaxial drivers arrived. Thankfully they fitted perfectly into the holes I'd already cut. Next is finish drilling the c...

Re: NVA 2022

Saw the thread title and thought “Oh gawd, here we go. Another NVA amplifier renaming”…
But no.
Seriously, happy anniversary NVA. And good work Paul and Tomasz. Imho, the way you are evolving the products and brand in sympathy with NVA traditions and history is impressive.

Re: Can you draw frequency response charts in your head from listening?

I was probably unclear. My wife loves music. Absolutely loves it. At least as much as I do. And, she says she can’t tell the difference between the sound direct from the tiny speakers in her iPhone and my system. She loves music equally, through whichever it’s replayed. I guarantee the frequency res...

Re: Can you draw frequency response charts in your head from listening?

The less one can do this, the easier music listening is.
