Re: Getting the best from Streaming music

Running things wirelessly introduces jitter and dropouts. Compressed music formats sound flat and lifeless. I am a big fan of the Raspberry Pi and have several of those running here. What you need: Raspberry Pi 3B (about 40 pounds - can be used on Wifi or wired) Digital HAT for Pi (recommended Hifi...

Re: Getting the best from Streaming music

Has to be wireless unfortunately, running an Ethernet cable into my listening room isn’t possible.

I run a mesh Wi-fi system, one master router and two slave disk
I could run another disk into the listening room, and cable to that, but not sure that would help.

Getting the best from Streaming music

Hi All, I’ve got a question about getting the best from streaming music. I’ve got an iPhone, and an Apple TV 3, Topping DAC and Apple Music subscription. I currently stream music from my phone to Apple TV, and run the digital audio out into a Topping D30 DAC and into my NVA system. It sounds great, ...

My favourite would be The Damned’s cover of The Sweet’s Ballroom Blitz.

Re: Passive preamp vs TVCs - please can you clarify ?

Maybe I should have said ‘with the amps I’ve experienced’... I’ve never needed monster wattage.

Where can I read up on TVC’s?

Re: Speakers

Try some Cubettes on the current system as they are on offer to promote, all you need is spare capacity on a credit card for a month, and then send them back. Then you will know if the Cube concept is in your plans. BTW P80 is pretty ancient so are they (with the A40s) aluminium case units from 25 ...

Re: Speakers

It’s old for sure, but not much to go wrong in there. Wires, an attenuator, and a switch. Just the way I like it. I’m planning to go for A60 or A80 monoblocks before the end of the year, and either a P50sa or P90sa Pre. I prefer the simplicity of a single volume control... but get the idea behind In...

Re: Passive preamp vs TVCs - please can you clarify ?

Such nonsense. I’ve had tonnes of amps and Pre amps. If you like the detail in the music, nothing is better than a quality passive Pre amp with quality attenuation. I’ve had lots of big name Pre amps, two best I ever had were my Mark Levinson Cello Passive Pre amp with stepped attenuator, and my NVA...

Re: Speakers

I’m a big fan of Tannoy Dual Concentrics, I’ve owned Monitor Reds, Monitor Golds, and little Gold Monitors. In my current abode, I only got a small listening room 12ftx12ft (10 ft to ceiling), and I’m only recently back into hifi after many a house move. Currently using NVA P80, A40, all NVA interco...
