Re: CD - it's not dead yet!

Couldn't agree more. I rip mine but I still have a CD player as backup (must put that on my profile - idle me).

On topic and informative. A bit lengthy but not technical and well worth reading. Where play back is concerned 24 Bit is overkill.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I'd quibble with anything over 44kHz/16 bit sounding any better. It's all in the mind.

You can't hear anything better. And before anyone leaps down my throat, most of the higher resolution formats have been remixed so...

Fretless wrote (among other things) "These are solid rocket boosters, or SRBs. The SRBs are made by Thiokol at their factory in Utah . The engineers who designed the SRBs would have preferred to make them a bit fatter, but the SRBs had to be shipped by train from the factory to the launch site....

Re: Got tickets to see - your next live listen

Just been to see Merry Hell on Saturday. Good but the opening act, Anthony John Clark, was even better. He's on at the Liverpool Phil November 9th. Also at the Phil are Lula Reinhardt & Yullya Lonskaka on 20th May, 8.00 p.m.. If you like a fusion of gypsy jazz and classical guitars you are in fo...

Re: Power cables and fuses

The Richard Dunn stance of having captive power leads makes a lot of sense. What's the point of having the World's best power lead only for it to go through an IEC plug and socket at the back of your amp / source? And then there's the UK ring type mains layout... And UK type wall sockets and plugs....
