Re: What laptop should I get?
Have a look at the Lenovo site. https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/d/build-your-own/ You can pick out your "basic" model, and add or subtract bits as you want. The ThinkPad E16 Gen 1 at £1,036.99 would be a VERY good starting point for you as you've got a £2K budget. The processor is a 13th Gene...

Re: What laptop should I get?
The "Overclockers" forum is mostly aimed at gamers, and their prices are usually extortionate too.

Re: What laptop should I get?
You can't, to the best of my knowledge, load Thunderbird on a Chromebook. I believe you can get Darktable working on Chromebooks, but it may involve setting up a Linux development environment first. qDslrDashboard can be downloaded as an Android app, so it should work on most modern Chromebooks. You...

Happy Easter
I'm (still) messing about with AI image generation at the moment, so here's an example. Happy Easter to you all.

Re: Holidays....yay
I haven't had a holiday "away" for well over 10 years. Jeanette wasn't well enough for quite some time, and after she died there seemed little point (or enthusiasm) to bugger off somewhere strange on my own. I can get solitude at home, so why pay somebody else' for it? Yes, I am antisocial...

Re: Stu
I bought NVA not to be different (although I was pleased with that as a side effect) but because I could actually chat with the guy who was building it and cut through the bollocks. I know little of tech-speak but I've got a pretty decent bullshit-meter, and Richard wasn't registering on it.
Re: Obits
RIP Gerry Conway. Gerry was "THE" folk rock drummer of the late '60s ‘70s and ‘80s, playing with Eclection, Al Stewart, Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Sandy Denny, Fotheringay, Kate & Anna McGarrigle and Cat Stevens. Conway joined Jethro Tull for their album The Broadsword and the...

Re: I have joined the mainstream
I am always of the opinion that it's 'music first' and the audio gear shouldn't get in the way of your enjoyment. Exactly that. I can remember how much I enjoyed my tinny little transistor radio almost 60 years ago, and I don't think my actual "enjoyment" has changed over the years. Even ...
