Re: Richer Sounds founder bankrolls push to end zero-hours contracts

These business regularly request by text message that zero hour workers turn up at very short notice only then to turn some of the workers away on arrival because they always over request to ensure that they not only have have a full roster but they cherry pick who actually gets to work. So a zero ...

Re: radio

Got a portable for less than a tenner at Tesco. It covers the same frequency bands as my old radioshack tuner. Because it's new the SW/LW reception is better, although a fine tune knob would be nice. Looking online, there are loads of old and new portables which are all pretty much the same. Crazy ...

Re: Mains - A Lesson Learned

An identical USB drive didn't do it. Not a scooby doo Geoff. That makes two of us then Powercut here day before yesterday....

Re: radio

Grundig appear to offer several portable radios, I did a quick look on Amazon and found some but only you can decide if any are suitable.

Re: Specifications - let's get them out of the way

Specifications are very useful, but the ones prospective purchasers look for can be meaningless. As an example; the thickness, stiffness and coper thickness of the circuit board matters in that it determines the effect of vibration and heat, amongst other things, on the behaviour of the finished pro...

Re: Headphone users

I have an extension that I made about 9n years ago, works just fine. That's a remarkably information-free post, Geoff! What cable and connectors did you use? Anything 'special'? Given that we were working on a BBC "Sunday Worship" at the time and the music director needed a longer ...

Re: Is this worth buying

Regarding speaker cable thickness, I think many people do buy with their eyes. Assuming standard lengths and reasonably efficient speakers, then, beyond a certain point, 'extra gauge' is not needed. Many people, some of whom should know better, think that a high power amplifier means thick cables. ...
