Re: Holidays....yay
Pleased you enjoyed your hols away from everywhere, not exactly my cup of tea but we're all different. We have 20mph zones near schools which is fine, but surely out of school hours and weekends that should then revert back to 30mph. Hello Dave, On a holiday I crave remoteness and seclusion rather ...

Re: Holidays....yay
Nice pictures. Wales is a great place for a holiday if the weather is good. We wait for a good forecast and go at short notice. Went to St Davids during last September's heat wave. Consider yourself lucky you don't have to live with the 20mph speed limit. Like many I will no longer vote Labour in W...

Re: Holidays....yay
Looks idyllic Stu. I could fancy spending a week there - even in the rain! 8-) Yes, it was beautiful in the Berwyn mountain range. It didn't rain constantly but every day was wet at some point. We all felt very relaxed until hitting the motorway around Chester on the way home. How anybody drives fo...

Re: Holidays....yay
Spent the last week in Llangollen, North Wales. Chose here because the accommodation was a lodge with fishing lakes for my son. In the middle of nowhere and didn't see many people (a bonus). On the whole the weather was atrocious but the surroundings and fishing very relaxing. The stupid 20 mph zone...

Re: Stu
There must be a specialist willing and able to sort the tracking out for you. Its not something I've ever messed about with. I think once rust has taken hold it is only possible to slow it down, not stop it. Welding new steel in is the only way to get rid. I can't do the whole thing though. There ar...

Re: Stu
You'll be starting an auto-refurb business at this rate !!! :auto-car: My 1996 Toyota Jam import “Bus” needs exactly what Stu is doing to both rear wheel arches, sadly my welding skills managed to just aboutbraze a bike handlebars on and that was the end of trying it ever again, I can see the thing...

Re: Stu
You'll be starting an auto-refurb business at this rate !!! :auto-car: No chance. By the time I have finished this I will be well sick of it. I've inhaled enough rust to last a lifetime. The aim is to keep this on the road for another 18 years when I will be ready to retire. Actually, my body says ...

Re: Stu
It's funny the things you can cobble together as a former for bending steel. Here we have two old drainage pipes sat on a table with 56lb weights clamped between them. A few bits of wood to get the centre height right. Another two 56lb weights go on top of the work piece to stop it moving. https://i...

Re: Stu
Moved on to the offside rear arch. In some ways it isn't as bad as the nearside but others it is worse. There are always more puddles to go through on the passenger side but less to wash winter salt away on the drivers side. Angle grinder has a mind of its own. Some of the floor needed to go too. ht...

Re: Stu
With steel that thick and wide, does it take a lot of force or hammering to get it shaped round the wooden former? I'd also expect a bit of springback. But then I guess we're not looking at ultra-accuracy here. Some sort of (CNC) flame or plasma cutter would save a lot of time, but cost ££££'s. Or ...
