Re: Solid floors and speaker support.

Thanks all. Some inspiration there and a few things to try. I've got some bits of oak lying around and a few pennies. I've also got some sand and cement - maybe I'll make myself some concrete speaker stands - they'll still be lighter than the Cubixes. [Edit] I thought I was joking. I've ju...

That'll be when you'll realise what they are (or aren't) doing. I was perfectly happy with LS5 until I got to try LS6  Then the Doc goes and makes LS7

Re: NVA Cubix

Admittedly I have just plonked and played: but I have to start somewhere. :? Going by what the Doc says, I have them too far forward - they're in the spot previously occuppied by the ES22s which sound better a fair way into the room - a good couple of foot from the back wall. They're definitely furt...

Re: NVA Cubix

Why keep us waiting, just let it all hang out, If we don't know how they sound when they are poorly set up, then we have no reference point for when they are properly set up. I need to get my thoughts together but I will post in a day or so, when I've had a good listening session - only managed a c...

Re: NVA Cubix

Well as I told you if they don't hit the spot return them. Anyway do they sound like they sound here. Yes they sound like they sounded there but somehow not as 'full' - obviously the other difference is the amplification, I'm not using a TSS. And I have a problem with sibilance - noticed it down th...

Solid floors and speaker support.

I'd like your thoughts on speaker supports. I've got or have had a number of different combinations over the years but have the idea that I should have spikes top and bottom. However, I now have small speakers blutacked to speaker stands and I have plain wood or tiled floors. Having nearly choked my...

NVA Cubix

I thought I'd post my impressions of the Cubix. But, I'm not going to say much about the sound just yet because I'm running in new LS6 and I think that has got a while to settle down yet: I'm getting some hooligan sound behaviour at the moment. And I need to sort out some positioning and support iss...

Re: Broadly defined avant-garde and modern music

As usual I can't resist adding my two-pennyworth to a thread about sounds that can provoke extreme reactions, and my addition is John Cooper Clarke, a.k.a. The Bard of Salford. It's all about the words. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37QUUwp9xIs Beasley Street http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZKPiZl...
