In cheapskate mode here I found a couple of old tables about 73 cm tall with four decent legs on although they aren't round all the way down - enough for both speakers and no wood worm

They are exactly the right height for these speakers. The legs splay out (purposefully) and the footprint (after the table top has been removed) is a touch bigger than I wanted at 35cm square at the top going out to 40 cm square at the floor.

Thinking about using them as it would save me a ton of money and time. 50mm dowels are not cheap and then there is the hassle of delivery.

I could always modify them a bit to make the foot print smaller and remove the splay in the legs. No idea what type of wood they are yet but the legs are dead straight

Last week I removed the three fence post legs that my speakers were just sat on. Screwed on three small bits of scrap wood just so I can experiment with positioning the speakers without the faff I had to go through before.

Thought Tomasz might like to see the supreme quality of work here :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Well, back to serious business. Should I use these tables ? Saves a lot of money as the Pine dowelling I require was going to cost £80 including postage from Cumbria. I thought it keeps with my spirit of recycling / upcycling. The footprint is bigger than I wanted but I can always reduce the dimensions a bit.

It would be a shame to remove that cross bracing diagonally between the legs. All the joints need regluing if i use what is already there but I won't be using the table top as it is made of tongue and groove and the planks have warped  All the rest of it is absolutely sound except sanding and refinishing.

I could round off the outside edge of the legs with a router as well as rounding off all the corners of the enclosure.

Any thoughts, what d'ya reckon ?

Absolutely! Bit of sanding wax and bobs your uncle (was never mine) I quite like the legs as they are. Mind you have always been a leg fan

Surprisingly I kind of like that kind of leg arrangements - well if you can make it stable enough maybe?

Think I am getting used to your quality of work I do not get severe reaction to it anymore

I think many of us must be in the same boat there Tomasz

Only joking Stu, the standard of your work is exemplary: Going back to the tables, what a find, really like the way the legs splay out slightly, good for stability, and I would have thought for your speakers with a downward facing driver: If your speakers will stand on the top, minus the table top of course, you're onto a winner
