Art deco eh ?

"What defines the Art Deco style?

What is Art Deco? Art Deco is a popular design style of the 1920s and '30s characterized especially by sleek geometric or stylized forms and by the use of man-made materials. "

Plastic is defo a man made material  The hourglass shape is definitely sleek geometric in my book. I am starting to visualise it now in my living room.

Ticks a lot of boxes. Lightweight, sleek shape that will merge with the sphere on top very nicely I think. Can be filled if required, doesn’t cost much and will require only a small amount of modification if any.

I can just visualise the sound wave elegantly wrapping round the smoooooth curves of the sphere and flowing graciously down the voluptuous (Julie Powell) hour glass shaped stand where it lovingly meets it's climax and relaxes itself into the warm embrace of a luxury shag carpet

Sprung  My mum has an extensive Barbara Cartland collection

Those stools are out of stock everywhere I have looked so far, not looked everywhere though. They are made in France I believe and J think they are available from there but more expensive.

Brexit strikes yet again :violin:

Back to reality

Just parking this link here about baffle shape, baffle step loss, diffraction (re radiation) and phase.

https://audiojudgement.com/speaker ... action/

Back to the stool - Argos have them in white. Black is nowhere to be found except in France from a seller who has a very bad reputation. So it looks like I'll have to get white and paint it. It is made of polypropylene so not easy to get finishes to stick. I did have good results with polyethylene from sanding, flame treating before spraying on plastidip primer then plastidip top coat.

Who knows when black will be available in the UK again. I think the only have white because it is less popular and they have some stock remaining. Annoying but hey, at least I don't have to go with gloss and the spheres and integral stands can all be finished the same.

Peter, are you still loving the passive radiator assisted mid bass ? I take it your up firing driver is the mid bass and down firing is the PR ? Or do you have it the other way round ?

Nice one Peter, I'm glad you are enjoying it. You get the benefits of bass reflex without the chuffing and farting.

I managed to order one of the black stools from Argos after all. Only available to collect from one particular store near me after Tuesday next week. They will text me to tell me when it has arrived. We will have to see if it actually arrives.
