It is a 5" Mordaunt Short mid/bass out of a pair of MS902S small bookshelf speakers.
There is no dust cap the cone is continuous .
Thanks, Stu

Not a clue, would have to look at it to judge.

It is made of aluminium cpc , which I understand is aluminium mixed with other metals. may be problems .
doc uses bison kit , the driver will not be porous and thus the glue may not take .
Bison is solvent based , this may react with the metal ,it will presumably be very thin.
The docs uses the dust cover and voice coil as a natural way of ensuring more damping is applied to the centre of the driver . This is not possible . I have no idea is an even coat of the material would be okay .

Thanks Daniel,
I had failed to find any info on the driver. I will not bother with this one. There is enough to do on my hifi list anyway.

Give it a joint and see if it makes better music.
Doping, get it

I am going to have a go at doping this with bison kit.
The crossover of these speakers are already minimal - single series inductor on mid/bass & 2.2uf + 1.2uf in parallel (3.4uf) on the tweeter. If I could get rid of the inductor that would be good. The 3.4uf could be replaced by a 3.3uf Russian pio I got from ebay and maybe a series padding resistor to suit.
Thinking of trying to dope the tweeter also with a very thin coat of plastidip to the entire metal dome. Having not done any doping before this could go seriously tits up - especially the tweeter.

You only really learn by doing.
