I have been playing with some remote control stuff, using RF 432MHz.
I have trouble finding a DEC to 4 bit BCD converter any thoughts, the 74hc147 series is going or gone bye bye to silicon hell (digital lies).

Thanks

Some nice little bamboo boxes at Ikea which are cheap and have some nice joints. The four sides are all non parallel. This one is 33x24x16cm (12.6 litres) so only good for smallish drivers up to about 6.5". Needs a front baffle of course and maybe one of Ikea's bamboo chopping boards could be used. If I was making small conventionally shaped speakers then I would be trying some of these quicker than a rat up an aqua duct.

Edit to add - only £10 each

My friend had greater success- the bass for a small box was impressive
He used 3-4” full range driver

If you only ever listen at low volume then I think a single full range driver is hard to beat.

Well, today I have agreed a sale of some of my Avondale bits and bobs and other stuff (all to the the same person)

Four Canterbury Windings 350va with twin centre tapped secondaries, four Avondale HCR200 high current regulators, four speaker protection modules, five soft start modules. That lot has come to a fair amount.

That just leaves a pair of NCC200 power amplifier boards, a pair of 821A pre amp boards, blacklink speaker cables. Then I have a load of Najm stuff to clear out and if the PL71 impresses then my LP12 and all related faff will be out the door. Can't be doing with it all hanging around.

I am keeping all my Avondale power amp psu boards, TPR4 regulators (pre tracking regs with a capacitance multiplier on the front), four EI transformers (currently powering my nva amps) and ALWSR super regulators. There's more bug I can't be bothered to list it all right now.

Was visiting an old friend today and thought I would take a picture of his self-built speakers to put on here.

They use a 15" Tannoy dual-concentric driver and he runs them through a huge PA amp system.

They do sound very impressive. Punchy, lively and very dynamic. But subtle? Er, no.

Very impressive speaker build, not everyone wants 'subtle' :character-beavisbutthead:

Yeah it's an unusual shape (which I like) . It looks a bit tombstone or crucifix like, Does he like Black Sabbath by any chance.
